Our goal is to secure a new trial for Brandon and ultimately, a drastically reduced sentence. Toward that end, we will make every effort to:

1. Help people to know Brandon.

2. Educate the public about what happened in this case.

3. Inform the community about the laws and how they are being applied.

4. Bring this case to the attention of politicians, celebrities or anyone who may be willing to become involved and provide assistance in some way for Brandon's appeal.

Our goal is not to hurt the Farris' but to help Brandon. We love Brandon and we will never turn away from him and our efforts to right this injustice.

How You Can Help Brandon


1. Please contribute what you can! Donations are needed.

Costs for a case of this magnitude are high. Many have asked if they can help by contributing to Brandon’s defense fund. These donations are a tremendous help. If you would like to show your support for Brandon by making a contribution please see below.

2. Spread the word

Introduce us to anyone who you know that may be able and willing to help: friends, celebrities, media, politicians, lawyers, judges, teachers, authors, ANYONE!

Let us know about opportunities to speak to parents, kids, churches, community organizations, etc. If you have a local talk radio program in your area we'd like to share.

3. Use your political clout!

Let your voice be heard! Write letters or send emails on Brandon's behalf. If you are a US resident, write to the California Governor today! If you're from out of the US email the President and Vice President of the US and Senator Barbara Boxer and Senator Diane Feinstein.

In addition to the gross injustice that Brandon experiences daily, it is costing the state of California over $50,000 a year to keep him in prison, not counting what he would be contributing in taxes as a working citizen. Respectfully contact Arnold today and ask him to terminate this injustice!

4. Do your own thing!

  • A Friend donated an outdoor billboard in the San Fernando Valley!
  • Merlin Snider and friends put on a concert in Westlake Village
  • Peter Foldy introduced us to his friend Tony Trupiano who has a nationally syndicated talk show. Tony featured Brandon's Dad, Gene Hein, and this story on his show.
  • A Friend came up with the idea of Love-U-Beads and makes these as a fund-raiser for Brandon' Defense Fund!
  • Scott Goldie produced a documentary about the case "Actions of Consequence" as part of his course work at Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara.
  • Performing singer/songwriter, Dina Gathe, has dedicated her record, "Bother Me", to Brandon and a portion of her CD sales revenue will be donated to The Brandon Hein Defense Fund.

  • David Moore emailed the Governor and asked for his consideration and help.
  • Libbie Bailey wears a Love-U-Bead neck cord as well as promotes this site on her Web site, AOL profile, emails, etc.
  • Nikki Smart suggested the idea of using PetitionOnLine.com to create a Petition to the Governor.
  • Christian Hayes, a politically-minded touring musician from Portland, ME plays the college circuit and spreads word of Brandon's story in his concerts.
  • Former State Senator Tom Hayden and Rocky Rushing tried, albeit unsuccessfully, to change the felony murder rule in California to give judges more discretion in sentencing.
  • Robert MastroianniI used Brandon as the subject for a speech class at Moorpark College to make everyone aware of what happened and encourage them to view the Web site and sign the petition.
  • Teachers from grade school through college are using Brandon's story and this Web site in their classes.

How can you use your skills, interests, and contacts to help Brandon's cause?

5. Please pray for Brandon and the others

Ask that God's will keep Brandon and the others safe. Pray that they not be discouraged or give up hope. Ask God to guide our efforts. Pray that God will speed up the wheels of the system and touch people's hearts with a yearning for justice, not just for these young men, but for all.

Pray for the Farris family that they may find peace, comfort and healing. It is not our desire to bring additional pain to the Farris family, but in order to find justice for Brandon and the others, we must continue to raise the issues in this case.
